Sutton Trust Summer School

This year, the St Andrews Virtual Sutton Trust Summer School will take place from Monday 5 to Friday 9 July 2021. 

To apply for our 2021 summer school, students must currently be in S5 (Scotland), Year 12 (England & Wales) or Year 13 (NI). Additionally, you must be in a state-funded school and have not yet applied to university.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 2 March 2021.

Pupil Q&A session:

There will be two pupil Q&A sessions for those who are interested in applying, where they can learn more about the virtual summer school and hear from previous students. You can sign up for these online:

Lateral Flow Covid19 testing

Before you come into school this Wednesday, and/ or Thursday and if you are participating in the voluntary self-test scheme, you must pick up kit from school tomorrow (Tuesday 23rd) between 9.15 and 10.00.
This applies to S5/6 pupils studying Art, Music and Graphics who are due to be in school Wednesday and Thursday.
Please meet outside the HLH door, socially distanced by 2M and wearing a face covering. You will then be called in to collect your kit and asked to exit via the PE department.
You should also complete a consent form before returning to school . This form has been assigned to you using your year group google classroom. Please just fill out online and return electronically.
Instructions on how to administer the kits are included, but please note you should test in the morning before coming into school.

University of Aberdeen Medical School online event

The University of Aberdeen Medical School would like to invite S4 and S5 pupils to their upcoming ‘So You Want to be a Doctor’ online events. These will be of interest to pupils thinking about a career in Medicine. The events will run over two sessions on Wednesday 3rd March and Wednesday 10th March 2021 at 4.30pm – 6.30pm.
We have a range of exciting speakers lined up from careers in Diabetes, General Practice and Anaesthesia, alongside current medical students. You will also hear about entry requirements for the course, the admissions process, UCAT and widening access. We would recommend that students attend both sessions. The sessions will take place virtually using Blackboard Collaborate. There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions to our panel of experts.
Places for the event are limited and must be booked in advance using the online booking form. Please note, each pupil who wishes to attend should complete their own booking. We anticipate significant demand for places so we recommend booking early.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any queries. We will email a link to join and the programme to each attendee the week prior to the event. We aim to record the event for anyone who can’t attend or if the event is full.
