The BBCSSO sent a team of creative professionals to work with our students over 2 days.

A number of our seniors pupils were involved in a workshop with members of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

The students created a piece of music as a response to their thoughts and feelings around the World climate challenge. Here is a film of the result:

Monsterfest is back and so is its educational day – The Education Day now in its third year brings a collection of individuals that have carved out careers and opportunities in the music business with speakers this year including musicians, DJs, PR promotional professionals as well as designers, producers, and promoters.

This will be held on Thursday 11th November at the Drumossie Hotel. The event will run from 11am (arrival at 10.45) until 3pm. Refreshments on arrival, lunch and refreshments in the afternoon will be provided.

This event is aimed at 4th, 5th & 6th years and it is targeted at those who have a keen interest in a career within the music industry.

If you are interested in attending, please fill in the form posted on your year group google classroom or email directly. The deadline for applying is Friday 5th November at 10am

We would like to make you aware of a unique opportunity for your child to improve their attainment, build their skills; boost their confidence; meet new people; get to know other members of their year group better and improve their team working skills.

By participating in this residential experience along with their year group, your child will feel ready to take on future challenges, including the next chapter of their school career in the Junior and Senior Phase. In addition, when your child starts looking for a job or applying to college or university, Outward Bound looks great on any C.V. or application.

This is a fantastic opportunity for all pupils to be involved in a potentially life changing experience. We have already invested time with Outward Bound by taking a number of groups away in the past 4 years. The testimony of those pupils and the change we have witnessed in their self-esteem and interpersonal skills have convinced us of the benefits of this experience.

We have the week available 14th -18th March 2022 for 48 pupils.  This would allow S1/2 pupils to experience a week of activities.

The normal cost of this residential tip would be around £490 but we have worked hard with Outward Bound to secure sponsorship bringing the cost down to £280 per student which is inclusive of all meals and equipment.  A cheque for a £100 (non-refundable deposit) should accompany the initial permission slip by Friday 3rd December 2021 with a payment of £100 required by the 4th February 2022, and a further £80 by 4th March 2022.   If you would like your child to be involved but the cost or payment dates make things difficult, please contact Mrs MacLennan or their Guidance Teacher at the school on 01463 667800.

Please ask your child to collect an initial information & permission letter from Mrs MacLennan’s office as soon as possible.
