A reminder to all of our S4, s5 and S6 pupils currently on exam leave to please check their school emails and lookout for any text alerts home. Some pupils have some outstanding coursework to complete before Friday the 6^th of May for some subjects. Pupils are asked to come in to school to work in room 228 with Mrs Muluzi to complete any tasks for any subject. We ask that you please attend your classes during timetabled lessons if you need any help or support in completing these tasks from subject teachers too.

The school will be closed for Monday’s holiday for pupils unless an exam is scheduled for you, and Thursday is an INSET day. Therefore Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday are essential for any last minute deadlines. We want to reinforce the deadline is just a week away so please come in to finalise everything.

We hope you all enjoy the long weekend and look forward to supporting you in completing your coursework for your teachers next week.

A reminder that the school is closed for a holiday on Monday 2nd May. We are open as normal on Tuesday 3rd. Please also remember that Thursday 5th May is an in-service day.

Miss O’Donoghue’s class had a fun morning out at Lochardil Primary ELC this week as they interviewed students and staff about the types of books they like to read. In English this term, some S2 students are working towards creating a Children’s Book which will be presented to Lochardil. This is a wonderful opportunity to look at the audience and purpose of texts, as well as to explore more complicated skills like analysis and evaluation without the pressure of a dense text type. One student commented that they wish they could have stayed in the Nursery all morning!

As you will be aware, the S.Q.A. exams started off in earnest yesterday and, once again, we wish all of our students good fortune over the next few weeks. For those students leave us this year we had a Leaver’s Day last Friday. Our day started with us providing a breakfast for students at which Mr Engstrand congratulated them on their achievements in their time in school and acknowledged their resilience over  the last two years. He then went on to talk about that resilience and how the school values they had always been reminded of would serve them well in the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of them.

We then left for the school playing fields where the school had arranged a number of events with local company ‘Mascot Madness Entertainment’ .  Attractions included a rodeo bull, the ‘Jungle Twin Slide’ (the biggest in the Highland!) and the ‘Bungee Run’.

Halfway through the event we were joined by our local ice cream van ‘Phil Ma’Cones Ices’ whose arrival was heralded by the traditional ice cream van bells!

All of these events were provided free of charge by the school to make the day as inclusive as possible. From the playing fields we then moved to the Astro turf pitches for a football match between staff and seniors. The event was watched by spectators from the senior school who made a donation to our Ukrainian Appeal and the match was played in a very friendly and fun spirit. The outcome was a well-deserved 1-1 draw.

We hope our leavers enjoyed their day, we are proud of their achievements  and we wish them well in the next stage of their lives.

Open to current S3, S4 & S5 students (places are limited and priority will go to those pupils studying Geography next year)

Pupils currently on study leave should collect a letter this week from Mrs Neil’s classroom or from the school office.

Please contact the school this week if you require a sign up / deposit letter to be sent home.

Best of luck to all our young people who start their exams today!  If for any reason pupils cannot attend an exam, parents should contact the school as soon as possible to let us know.
