Absence Reporting
If your child is absent from school, it is important that you contact us as early as possible via telephone (01463 667800) or email (ira@highland.gov.uk) to inform the school. If you think that your child will be absent for more than one day, you can indicate that in your initial call/email and their absence will be recorded accordingly. Otherwise, the expectation is that you inform the school for each day they are unable to attend. If the school has not been notified of your child’s absence you will receive an attendance text asking for you to contact the school.
If a pupil needs to leave during the school day for an appointment etc, a parent or guardian must inform the school prior to the appointment in order to allow the pupil to sign out. Pupils must report to the main school office to sign out, and if returning the same day, they must report again to the school office and sign in. Pupils will not be permitted to sign out unless a parent or guardian has notified the school. Where at all possible, medical and dental appointments should be made outwith normal school hours.
If a pupil becomes ill during the day, parents/guardians will be contacted to arrange collection of their child. Therefore, it is essential that we have up to date contact numbers and emergency contact details for all pupils.
