The best part of all of our jobs is working with young people and this week I’ve been lucky enough to spend time with a couple of groups committed to improving the lives of fellow pupils. At assemblies a group of S3 girls has been publicising the work of the charity ‘Young Minds’ and a ‘Dress as you Please’ day next Wednesday on World Mental Health Day. One colleague got in touch with me to comment:
‘The four girls did a fantastic job of presenting in front of their peers – what a daunting task!’
Hopefully their ongoing work will have a real positive impact upon students’ emotional wellbeing. This area, of course, is an issue for all of us and the Health & Wellbeing group continues to do great work on improving staff mental wellbeing. In addition, all of the informal activities that colleagues take the time to organise help us find a balance in our lives. I know how much people look forward to things like staff football and mountain biking or just a get-together at interval on a Friday. Thank you to the organisers of these events because the more we come together in experiences like this the easier the job is I feel.
The social committee are at the heart of many things like this and Miss McLennan in particular is a real driving force to whom we are all grateful. Please help her and the rest of the committee by confirming your attendance at a number of upcoming events.
Have a good weekend; the weather looks as if it will be good so try and get out and enjoy it.
