The new Speakeasy programme for Parents and Carers that has been launched by NHS Highland Health Improvement Team & Planet Youth. Speakeasy is free and is provided by trained facilitators. The focus of this programme is to help parents and carers of children of any age to tackle the difficult and often confusing issues of growing up, safety, sex and relationships. We provide relaxed and informal small group work sessions around aspects of growing up, keeping your child safe, relationships and sexual health and in these sessions we discuss information, resources, and support to help parents/carers to confidently chat about these things at home. We want families to feel more knowledgeable, confident and ready to have these conversations with their children.
The programme is currently delivered to small groups of parents in relaxed and interactive learning sessions that are delivered online.

For too many young people in the Highlands and Islands, an unfair start in life for a young person can mean they lose their way for the rest of their lives. You can change that.
Become a volunteer mentor in a local secondary school for just one hour a week and ignite the vital spark in a young person. Mentoring builds confidence, awakens ambitions and expands future horizons. Mentors don't need prior experience, it's all about being yourself.

They were impressed by the incredible use of technical theatre and life-size horse puppetry. Higher drama students are looking forward to writing about this experience in their end of year exams ![]()

Science in the Atrium returned on Monday night with a talk on the Physics of Music. An audience of over 100 enjoyed the talk given by Dr Jonathan Kemp from the University of St Andrews. Dr Kemp explained his topic in an entertaining manner using musical instruments along with visual displays and was accompanied on stage by pupil Daniel Finnigan who played the trumpet
It was great to see so many pupils in the audience and we hope they'll come back for the next talk in the series
