  • Mock COP29

    Published 13/11/24

Pupils from Inverness Royal Academy took part in Mock COP29 yesterday, organised by Open University and Highland One World held at Highland Council HQ. Schools across Highland were invited to attend this event, and each school was given an actor profile that was either a country, charity, or stakeholder. We represented the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia at the Mock COP29 and had a day full of negotiations on issues like Net-Zero targets, funds for tackling the Climate Emergency and protecting nature. We made connections and deals with other representatives throughout the day, culminating in voting for resolutions on these issues. Towards the end China declared Nuclear War and walked out of the negotiations in protest to the ‘hostile’ environment at Mock COP29! A lasting alliance was also formed between us, Ethiopia and The Nordic Council represented by Culloden Academy. A fun day was had by all involved.

  • Film Screening and Q&A with Flo Blackburn @ Inverness Royal AcademyMonday 11th November at 7.30pm

    Published 07/11/24

In summer 2023, wildlife researcher Flo created this feature-length documentary film as she embarked on an intensely personal journey around nature restoration projects and rewilded areas across Europe. Like many of her generation, she was concerned by the state of nature and fearful about an uncertain future. However, she discovered places where nature was making a spectacular comeback, breathing life back into the landscape and revitalising human communities. Encouraged by these stories of hope and renewal, she was prompted to wonder, why not Scotland? Book Here
