  • Proud Scotland Awards 2024

    Published 03/06/24

What a way to kick off Pride Month! We are thrilled to announce that our school has been recognised in the Proud Scotland 2024 Awards where we won the Education category. This recognition is a testament to our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all our students and families, including our LGBTQ+ community. 🌈

As a Rights Respecting school, we strive to ensure that every individual feels valued, respected, and secure. We believe that everyone should be able to be their authentic selves without fear or judgement.

In the words of Sterling Graves, "Pride is important because someone tonight still believes they're better off dead than being themselves." Let's continue to spread love, acceptance, and challenge hate and unkindness. Together, we can make a difference. Congratulations to all our staff, pupils, and families for this incredible achievement!

Great week at Alladale Wilderness Reserve.

To our pupils, a massive WELL DONE 👏🏻💯👍 to you all, this is wild camping like no other and the most remote location for a weeks school residential in Scotland! On Thursday night everyone slept in their own hammock and the weather all week was totally tropical 🌴with only a few million midges 🦟🦟🦟 not that we noticed! Thanks to Alladale Estate, Chris McCormick and Jean Deakin.

  • Uniform Thank You

    Published 28/05/24

Thank you SO MUCH for your response to my recent letter about school uniform! Yesterday was the start of the new timetable and it was clear to see that a significant number of conversations about uniform had taken place in families. This has resulted in many  more of our pupils attending school in uniform. I really appreciate your support on this matter.

I know a number of you have reasonable questions about the consequences for those not routinely wearing uniform. The consequences- you might not be surprised to learn- will take account of a pupil’s individual circumstances. For those affected by poverty, we’ll help them access clothing grants and our school uniform bank. For those affected by sensory issues, we’ll seek some compromises around clothing items. For those who don’t really have any excuse then it might be a meeting with parents/carers or it might be ‘catch up time’ (otherwise known as detention in the past).

The senior management team will be carrying out spot checks this term and regularly when we return in August. In the meantime, thank you again for your support.
