  • S1 Virtual Evening - Booking Open

    Published 07/05/25

    S1 Virtual Evening – Wednesday 21st May – 5pm - Booking is now open!

Due to the size of the year group and the number of staff who have multiple S1 classes; you may not be able to book an appointment with every subject teacher. In a school of our size this has always been an issue. Therefore last year we trialled a hybrid model of a main ‘in person’ evening (taking place next week - booking now closed) and then another opportunity to book appointments as part of a virtual evening. The virtual parents’ evening should only be used as a ‘top up’ and not the main evening for your bookings – for example you were unable to get an appointment with History on the main evening. It should not be used for multiple appointments. Please refer to the criteria check list.

Some ground rules so that all participants are following the same protocol which should ensure everyone’s wellbeing.

    • Conversations should take place in appropriate rooms / surroundings e.g. kitchen, lounge, study and not in a bedroom

    • All participants should be appropriately attired as they would be for a real life face to face meeting

    • No conversations should be recorded

    • If you are using a device with e.g. FaceTime or WhatsApp to enable both parents from different households to attend simultaneously please flag this up to the teacher as a matter of courtesy at the start of the conversation

    • As in real life, your child is welcome to attend

    • Please be on time as the slot times are not flexible at all and will start/finish exactly on time

Ready to book your slots? Click here

May be an image of phone and text that says "Should Should|book I book book an online parents meeting? နါခှိ 。 I booked most appointments face to face but was unable to make an appointment in a specific subject area live in a rural area of our catchment and travel is difficult"

  • Visit from Canadian Author - Monica Mackinnon

    Published 06/05/25

Last week we were lucky enough to have a visit from Canadian author Monica Mackinnon, who writes historical paranormal romance novels based in and around Inverness. Some of our budding writers came along to the library to meet her and hear about her writing process – she gave some great advice so watch this space for future novels written by IRA pupils! Monica very kindly donated a signed copy of her book ‘Seven’ – we were very excited to learn that Inverness Royal Academy features in this book, with one of her characters being a Maths teacher based here! This book is now available in the library for anyone who would like to borrow it. #readingschools #IRALibrary #futureauthors
