'World of Work Tasters' Construction Careers Event @ Fort George

Yesterday a group of our talented and enthusiastic students attended a 'World of Work Tasters' event, staged amidst the impressive surroundings of Fort George, near Ardersier.

The event, hosted by Morgan Sindall Construction along with Ri Cruden, WM Donald, The British Army and Historic Environment Scotland, gave pupils the opportunity to learn more about various aspects of the construction industry - trades, engineering, management and more. As well as hands-on workshop activities (see the attached promotional graphic for full details) there was a strong emphasis on career pathways and particularly apprenticeship options.

Our pupils relished the opportunity to get out of the classroom and get stuck into some of what the construction and engineering industries have to offer for their futures. (It's not often you get to try wiring electrical fittings, quantity surveying, stonemasonry, bricklaying, joinery, drone photogrammetry, tractor driving, and more... all on a school day!)

All members of the group showed great attitude and really made the most of every activity throughout the day - I would like to praise and thank them for doing the school proud.
